Welcome Aboard – The Ultimate Flight Attendant Guide for a Successful Sky-high Career
About the Book
My twenty years as a Flight Attendant was truly an enriching and rewarding career. This long stay in the airline industry, together with my stint as mentor and instructor in several FA Preparation programs gave me the experience and knowledge on how to get the job and become successful.
Although airlines vary in their hiring procedures, the principle is the same –
To get hired fast, you must establish yourself as a
desirable applicant suited to be a Flight Attendant.
When submitting your application and in the actual interviews, you should project the impression that you possess the desired FA qualities and skills. These include being peopleoriented, friendly, mature, hardworking, responsible, caring, helpful, patient, kind, tactful, punctual, motivated, adaptable, energetic, decisive, and trustworthy. It is also important to be always aware of the messages unconsciously conveyed by your body language and general appearance.
This book will help you make informed decisions on how to favorably present yourself – through your attire, demeanor, and the way you communicate. It will boost your confidence, keep you focused, and improve your thinking and social skills.
The information provided here establishes the FA career as it truly is, debunking the misconception that it is either the “dream job” or the “worst job.” As with any other profession, requirements, rewards, challenges and expectations naturally come along with the FA job.
Included in later parts is a quick overview of some of the safety and emergency procedures for FAs, as well as customer service guidelines when dealing with service breakdowns and customer dissatisfaction.
As you process what you read, you will find invaluable tips, ideas, and helpful information that you can use in sticky situations whether you are new or experienced in the service industry.
Now sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
