PinANAri: Trails of Hope
A solo art exhibit that told stories of Ana Algabre
Hernandez’s advocacy on women empowerment, love for heritage, culture, country and nature.
The art exhibit from June 12 until July 23, 2021 was the flagship event of Kuliat Foundation that manages the Museo ning Angeles or Angeles Museum to celebrate Kasarinlan 2021 commemorating the Philippine Independence Day.
This exhibit was curated by Mr. Jing Torno, A Capampangan artist himself and a member of the board of trustees of the Kuliat Foundation. The collections displayed were mostly oil paintings from pinANAri’s series of paintings that included Iwatawat mo , Cordillera, Canvas in mind, Chrismus and Woman Series. The exhibit was visited not only by the people from Angeles City but also by other visitors from all other regions. Pinanari celebrated not only our Independence Day, Kasarinlan 2021 but also the Filipino arts and culture.
The Opening:
The opening of the event was graced by the presence of Presidential Chief legal counsel Salvador Panelo with wife Dr. Araceli A. Panelo, Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, Councilor Raco del Rosario, former Ambassador to South Korea and Turkey Raul Hernandez, KFI president Arch. Leandro Naguiat, NHCP commissioner Dr. Lino Dizon, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development assistant secretary Leila Buan, Department of Tourism assistant secretary Verna Buensuceso, Besco Clark Philippines Im Yee Gon, chef Claude Tayag, KFI founding trustee and advisory council member Carmen McTavish, Judge Jean Desuasido-Gilland, and Cavite board member Ping Remulla with wife Georgia. Prior to the opening ceremony, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. together with chief adviser and tactician IC Calaguas and executive assistant IV Reina Manuel visited the exhibit. Mayor Lazatin was a fantastic solo audience who enjoyed a short art talk with the artist and expressed pride in being a by product of the come from the same college institution as the artist, the Republic Central Colleges located in Plaridel Syreet, Angeles City.
To celebrate Kasarinlan 2021, PINANARI opened with a wonderful show of love for country. With a program hosted by actress Cecile Yumul, the guests were treated with a well put film reenactment of events to honor our heroes during the establishment of the first Philippine Republic in 1898 and to salute our modern day heroes who are the medical practitioners as frontliners in the global fight against Covid-19 pandemic. Kudos to Director Jayson Pabalan for putting together the artistic performances of the actors of Uyat Artista of the Jocson College Center for Learning and Development in Culture, Arts, and Sports (CLDCAS) and the lovely musical performance of Jocson College EVP, KFI trustee and Kasarinlan 2021-Pinanari project head Felisa “Leigh” Jocson.
In addition to tourists and locals dropping by, the exhibit was also visited by prominent personalities from the academe, the business sector, the government, the church, the youth , and a number of ASEAN diplomats.
Members of the ASEAN Ladies Foundation, Inc. (ALF) and International Bazaar Foundation, Inc. (IBF), led by then Overall Chairperson Mme. Maria Lourdes B. Locsin, graced the exhibit on July 20, 2021 to view the works and meet with the artist, Mme. Ana Algabre Hernandez, who is also a member of the DFA Ladies Foundation, Inc. (DFALF). Then National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Chairman Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso,Angeles City Vice Mayor Maria Vicenta V. Cabigting and KFI President Architect Naguiat together with pinANAri artist Ana received Mme. Locsin and the ladies. Also present was Assistant Secretary Raul Hernandez of the DFA’s Department Legislative Liaison Unit, Ms Carmen McTavish, Ms. Leigh Jocson, Mr. Jing Torno, and the other members Kuliat Foundation.
After the inspirational talk on the artist’s art that led to an interactive poetry session, the guests enjoyed the exhibit followed by a dance and musical performances over Capampangan cusine of refreshments prepared by Chef Sau del Rosario and lunch by Chef Claude Tayag.
The ASEAN ladies also enjoyed in shopping the accessories and fashion wear by Pidayit and fashion designer Philip Torres, and sweet treats by Susie’s Cuisine.
Mme. Locsin was joined by Amb. Johariah Wahab of Brunei Darussalam, Mme. Anothay Luangmuninthone – President of the ASEAN Ladies Foundation, Consul Helen Ong – Vice Chairperson of the International Bazaar Foundation, members of the ALF, IBF, and staff of the DFA Special Projects Unit.
Senator Allan eter Cayetano with his wife, Congresswoman Lanie Cayetano visited the exhibit. They were received by the artist herself and KFI Founding Board of Trustee, Mrs. Carmen McTavish. Sen Cayetano featured the exhibit in his blog and introduced the other Capampangan artist present.
Noteworthy is also the visit of Dean Dr. Jimmuel Naval, from the University of the Philippines, Diliman along with Mr. Ferdinand Aguila.
